A Springtime Gardening Program

The Master Gardeners of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany County invite you to attend an evening gardening program open to the public. Master Gardeners will present a program of timely topics and conduct a Question & Answer session for any gardening questions guests might have. Spend an evening with the Master Gardeners and take home some great gardening information. *Pre-registration and fee information below.

Topics

6:00-6:45 pm: STARTING AND GROWING SEEDS INDOORS – MG Debbie MacCrea will teach this simple, rewarding and economical process for starting your garden early, by sowing seeds of select vegetables , perennial and annual flowers, and herbs indoors under ordinary florescent lights. She will discuss the necessary supplies, care while growing, and transitioning to the outdoors. No experience and no greenhouse required! Seeds will be provided for you to take home to start your own plants.

6:50-7:35 pm - TIPS ON TRIMMING YOUR TREES AND SHRUBS – MG Dave Chamberlain will teach the proper pruning techniques and timing for this maintenance which will create healthier plants with better flowering and fruiting.

7:40-8:25 pm - GROUNDCOVERS: BEYOND PACHYSANDRA – MG Mary Lu Wells will discuss how to connect your shrubs and perennials to the earth with groundcovers and reduce weeding and moisture loss while adding beauty to your landscape. 

8:30-9:00 pm - Q & A SESSION with Master Gardeners, Dave Chamberlain, Joyce Fisher, Terry Haas, Mary Harris, Matthew Kichman, Debbie MacCrea, Rick Martin, Lucia Scotty, Rex Spencer and Mary Lu Wells. Bring your gardening questions for our Master Gardeners.
