Hops Seminar

Hops Seminar

The Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning, and Tourism, and Cornell University Cooperative Extension of Allegany and Cattaraugus Counties will host a seminar for farmers and landowners interested in diversifying into hops production to meet the needs of the growing home and micro-brewing industries.

The seminar will be held on Tuesday, April 15 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Cattaraugus County Government Building at 303 Court Street in Little Valley.

The seminar is free and open to the public but pre-registration is recommended. The demand for locally grown hops is outpacing production. This workshop will explain how & why growers might enter this field.

Presenters

Dan Minner, head brewer at the Ellicottville Brewing Company, will explain the role of hops in the brewing process.

Tim Weigle, Area Extension Educator with Cornell University Cooperative Extension will discuss the process of hops production, and integrated pest management in hops production.   There will be time devoted to questions and answers as well.
