Canticle Farm and Cornell Cooperative Extension is delighted to invite families, nature lovers, and community members to a magical evening under the stars at its upcoming Firefly Watching Event on Friday, July 3. Guests will gather to witness the enchanting glow of fireflies—nature’s own fireworks—set against the peaceful backdrop of the farm.
Timed just before Independence Day celebrations, this special event offers a quieter, more reflective way to appreciate the beauty of summer. The evening will include guided observation of fireflies, opportunities for educational discussion about their life cycle and environmental importance, and time for participants to relax and take in the natural surroundings of Canticle Farm and experience the awe of these bioluminescent wonders as they light up the night sky.
Guests are encouraged to bring comfortable shoes, blankets or lawn chairs, and dress comfortably for an outdoor evening. To help protect the fireflies and their habitat, participants are asked to limit artificial lighting and follow event guidelines.
