Agricultural Environmental Management 101 Seminar March 23rd

The Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism and the Cattaraugus County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) will hold an informational seminar for Agricultural Producers on March 23rd, 2017 at the Cattaraugus County Center, 303 Court Street, Little Valley, New York.  The seminar will be held on the 3rd floor in the large conference room and will begin at 6:00 pm.

The Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism would like to invite all Agriculture Producers and Operations to this seminar.  The guest speaker will be Brian Davis, District Manager for the Cattaraugus County Soil and Water Conservation District.  The topic to be discussed will include an explanation of what Agricultural Environmental Management (AEM) is, and what an AEM Plan can do for your Agricultural Operation.  There will also be a question and answer session at the end.

To be eligible for many of the USDA Government and the Soil and Water Conservation Districts Programs and Grants an AEM Plan is required to be submitted along with the application.  AEM is a voluntary, incentive-based program that helps farmers make common-sense, cost-effective and science-based decisions to help meet business objectives while protecting and conserving the State’s natural resources. Farmers work with their local SWCD professionals to develop these comprehensive farm plans.
